Visited this place while on vacation with my friends. Cole was our server (we had 6 in our party, and he also had other tables in our section. Cole never appeared to be overwhelmed, and handled our large table with ease. He provided excellent service for us and we all agreed that he did a great job. The food was absolutely amazing. I ordered the sirloin and asparagus. My steak was so tender and cooked perfectly. The asparagus was also cooked to perfection. To be honest, I'm pretty upset that I can't seem to replicate how the chef did the asparagus, on my own. We also had the calamari as an appetizer. If you love calamari, this is the place to get it. #yum #cutslikebutter Overall, my experience here was perfect. I will absolutely be returning the next time we are in town, and highly recommend this restaurant to everyone. However, be prepared, all sides are a la cart and not included in the price of your meal. My bill $27 for one 10oz sirloin steak and one glass of wine (asparagus not included in this price; my friend and I split the asparagus, and there was still some left over. Sides are $5 each).

Finally got the the Grill Room on a GH trip, and it was ok. I was expecting a better NY Strip as it's a pretty basic menu item for a restaurant like this. The bistro fries were pretty solid, I couldn't stop eating them and the chicken lettuce wrap appetizers were good as well. The dining room is very nice for a quiet dinner (as long as you go before the band starts next door). Overall I would go back down the line but I won't make a regular stop on my GH trips.

My friend and I arrived and asked if we could have the high top by the window and were told that there was a reservation coming in at 645 and I think it was 530 so we were given another table. We weren't too happy when after about 10 minutes another couple came in and they were given a table that we had requested and we were sitting right next to them so we could hear the entire conversation about why they were giving the table when they shouldn't have been given the table. Well the hostess needs some training I believe given the fact that she wasn't all that friendly when we came in either I ordered the salmon for dinner and although the salmon was tasty it was quite small compared to the rest of the platter which was a bunch of potatoes so for the price I paid a lot for some potatoes. There are lot of other places I can go and get a better dinner for better price and a better experience so I don't believe I will be going back

Nice place to dine in GH. It's connected to Kirby's, and it's the more upscale side of the restaurant. The restaurant was quiet and comfortable, which made conversation easy. Service from Ben, our waiter, was top notch. We started with the smoked whitefish appetizer, which was excellent and the portion was huge. We had the petite filet and seafood linguine for dinner. Both were excellent. The pasta was oh so slightly over cooked but fine. The wine list was good but not extensive. We asked to have our wine decanted, and Been took care of that immediately. Had the chocolate ganache cake for dessert, it was very well done. Overall, a nice experience.

2nd time dining here... and probably the last. Cool place, upscale, and quaint at the same time. Problems seem to run rampant here though. Wine "by the glass" selection is subpar for starters. The biggest complaint is that my wife and I have never eaten at the same time here. Either her entree is screwed up or mine has been. When we pay $100 for the meal, that is inexcusable. The first time it happened, well OK, but the second time... well that's the last straw. The server did comp my meal which was nice, but we didn't go out for free food, we went out for dinner together! I see the grill room as a nice place with an identity crisis. Either be great at being great or knock down that wall and join the kirby for bar food...

Fancy restaurant. Overly priced meal for what you get. We ordered steak medium rare and it was overlooked medium well. Tasted dry & chewy. We should've sent it back. My lamb shank was delicious, but a bit too salty. Summer salad of spinach, fennel & beets tasty and fresh, but overly dressed. Sad meal.

Great food pretty decent service or it would have been 5 stars. The Kobe steak with lump crab was great and so was the lamb shank. Also the soup of the day was pork and black beans and it was awesome.

Great meal and great service. Nicole, our server was very attentive but did not rush us. Really a nice time

There were four in our party and each had a wonderful meal. Our server was Kate. She was very helpful in our choices and friendly. The concern is - the hostess prepared our table. As we waited, she dropped a knife on the floor and then put it back on the table. REALLY? Certainly she knew better than that. When we asked that the knife be exchanged, she was so completely rude. The wait staff is excellent, but training for the first contact with customers should be explained a little better. I am certain that you will enjoy the food - we are very glad that we overlooked the rudeness and decided to stay.

WOW! On a small vacation, my wife and I wandered into this place, looking for something a little more upscale. I think we were lucky to get a seat without a reservation. The Grill Room is one of the 3 restaurants in the Kirby, and is located to the left of the entrance. The whole meal was just one great surprise after another. First off, the bread was excellent, but my joy was the dipping plate: wedges of room temp butter, herbed olive oil, and cloves of roasted garlic. Could have made a meal on that plate. I normally don't spring for an appetizer, but 'goat cheese fritters' with balsamic seemed interesting. We weren't disappointed. Creamy and crunchy all at the same time. I opted for the tenderloin medallions special, which was everything it should be. My wife had a veggie risotto that was perfect. Raspberry creme brulee with coffee for dessert was fine. My wife liked it more than me, and I felt the coffee should have been stronger, but these are just preferences. Service was excellent and the tab was reasonable. Definitely going back!
